Paralegals can write briefs, assist clients and conduct legal investigations under the supervision of the lawyer. Legal Services of Northwest Jersey is looking for a Spanish-English interpreter/translator who really wants to make a difference in the lives of people with limited resources and at-risk seniors.
This is an opportunity to work in a community of highly experienced and dedicated lawyers and legal staff. LSNWJ provides free legal assistance in civil cases that meet the basic needs of people with limited resources and vulnerable seniors in northwest New Jersey. The interpreter/translator interprets meetings with clients; assist clients with paperwork, translation of written documents; Coordination of LSNWJ language services; supervise the interpretation and translation of bilingual LSNWJ staff; and training LSNWJ staff and community providers to work with interpreters and translators. LSNWJ is currently working remotely with limited appearances in the office and onsite. A legal recruiter does not include working at a law firm. The lawyer must have experience working with trauma victims and a history of working with vulnerable and low-income populations of different ethnicities and nationalities. Experiences that are highly valued include working with victims of trauma and human trafficking, practicing in several areas of civil law, particularly immigration criminal justice, immigration, government benefits, tenancies and sexual assault. Fluency in Spanish will be an important advantage.
