Solicitor (Level 7) requires a training provider authorised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). The majority of legal apprenticeships are aimed at young people who are dropping out of school or changing careers and looking for an alternative to studying. However, some legal training requires you to have more than GCSEs or A-levels. This six-year distance learning course is designed for post-baccalaureate school leavers, paralegals, licensed legal executives and those who want to change careers and qualify as a lawyer. Applicants must be sponsored by an employer to complete an apprenticeship. You must be currently employed legally and have your employer`s consent to assist you with your training. We want all of our apprentices to complete the paralegal apprenticeship program before choosing the Solicitor program. Working as a paralegal for 2 years gives you the opportunity to decide if a career in law is right for you. For some reason, if you decide it`s not right for you, you`ll always walk away with a legal qualification when you finish the paralegal program. However, the majority of legal employers often pay their apprentices much more than the NMW, so don`t be put off by the idea of low pay if you`re considering this route to qualification.
