Our important work continues to this day. Rosie`s Place is a multi-service community centre that provides women with emergency shelter and meals, and more: a pantry, ESOL classes, legal assistance, wellness care, one-on-one assistance, housing and job search, and outreach. Here, women find support, opportunities and the tools they need to make a fresh start. Serving Rosie`s Place`s Mission, the Legal Program provides compassionate, easily accessible legal information and advice to all women seeking help and answers to their legal questions. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Legal Program offered weekly in-person clinics on housing, immigration, BRI and debt, as well as bi-weekly general counselling and referral clinics for issues outside of these areas. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, all personal clinics have been suspended indefinitely. However, the need for easily accessible legal information and advice has never been greater! In response to the ongoing need, the Rosie`s Place Legal Program continues its mission by offering remote advice to everyone who contacts the Legal Helpline. At this critical time when we are all learning how to use the courts in a post-COVID-19 world, women who call Rosie`s Place Legal Helpline often struggle with technological challenges in addition to their already complicated underlying issues. Helping guests access existing resources, identifying legal avenues that may be available to them, and developing strategies for using the courts provides important support to many guests during highly stressful times. Volunteer lawyers could help the Legal Program support many more guests than our current capacity allows; We need your help! On Easter Sunday 1974, Rosie`s Place was founded as the first women`s shelter in the country.

We created a sanctuary of hope, a place where every woman was welcome. Heard. Got it. Beloved. Together with our legal partners, we support our clients with online applications and Zoom court appointments and represent them in court, landlords and debtors. From information and resources to full representation, we offer a range of legal services to assist our clients. To provide the most comprehensive assistance, we contract with Greater Boston Legal Services and Rian Immigrant Center. Our legal program helps women struggling with a variety of housing issues that have been made even more complex by the pandemic. Often challenged by language and technology and harassed by landlords and debtors, our clients feel lonely and overwhelmed. We ensure they understand their rights and expectations during a moratorium on evictions. We understand that many of the problems faced by our customers can only be solved with time and patience. We have created an environment of welcome and trust where women can open up without fear of judgment about the challenges they face, and where we are there to help, no matter how long a guest needs us. www.volgistics.com/ex/portal.dll/ap?AP=1440279604&OR=1 Tonya was supported by Rosie`s Place during a difficult time, then gave back by becoming an advocate herself. Rosie`s Place was founded in 1974 as the first women`s shelter in the United States. Our mission is to create a safe and nurturing environment that helps poor and homeless women maintain their dignity, seek opportunities and find safety in their lives.

Our helpline receives up to 100 calls a day from women who have lost their jobs and are unable to pay their rent and utilities until their unemployment benefits arrive. women who are in arrears with rent and whose landlords are threatening eviction; and women who fall behind on their mortgage payments for fear of losing the home they worked so hard for. We have increased our funding to meet this growing need for financial assistance and are also working with our clients to create budgets and payment plans with management and utilities. Many women who turn to us have immediate needs and we help by providing a range of services that provide emergency assistance. Giving Tuesday is November 29, their support will allow us to remain a haven of hope and help. Advocates can help in the following areas and more: Rosie`s Place continues to serve more women than ever before, both at our headquarters at 889 Harrison Avenue and in the Boston community. Through our various programs and services, we have helped some of the city`s most vulnerable women survive, and we have also created opportunities for some of the people most in need of hope. A one-on-one conversation with one of our multilingual advocates is often the first step for women who seek our help. Instead of asking intrusive questions or telling him what to do next, a lawyer listens with support and follows our guest`s example.

Our lawyers schedule more than 1,500 appointments with guests each month. Whether a guest needs urgent help or long-term help for a complicated issue, our lawyers will be there for them for as long as they need us.
